The 37-year-old called Middlesbrough manager, and former team-mate at Swansea City, Garry Monk on Sunday after his side suffered a 1-0 defeat on the opening day of the Sky Bet Championship season.

The West Midlands outfit, backed by new owners Fosun International, spent a great amount of money in the summer – including Championship record £15.8m on Ruben Neves – as boss Nuno Espirito Santo assembled a fresh squad.

Over 29,000 fans packed into Molineux on the opening day and Way says his side need to cope with the pressure of a big crowd on Tuesday in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

“I spoke to Garry Monk on Sunday as Middlesbrough played them and I got the run down on them,” he told iFollow Glovers.

“They’re a good team, they’ve invested a lot of money but it’s a challenge we’re looking forward to.

“We don’t know what the crowd is going to be but they had 29,000 in their last game so hopefully we’ll get a good crowd and we can put on a good performance.

“It’ll be a pressure the players will have to deal with.”

Way has no injury concerns going into game with Bevis Mugabi recovering from his ankle problem.

The Glovers will be keen to bounce back from their loss to Luton Town on Saturday and Way insists his team have worked hard, and will continue to do so, to make amends.

He said: “Cup games always bring a different challenge and are exciting.

“We’ve worked hard on the training since Saturday – we’re prepared and ready.

“We’ve regrouped, had to get a positive mindset and the players have bought into what we’re asking for – now they’ve just got to show it.”

Tickets are available to purchase on the turnstiles at Molineux. For advanced sales, fans can purchase tickets up until 11am on Tuesday via the Huish Park ticket office.
