A Jamie Roberts brace ensured Town left West Sussex empty handed, continuing an inconsistent start to the season.

Despite a positive start, the green and whites couldn’t build on back-to-back victories over Coventry City and Exeter City and slumped to a third defeat on the road in Sky Bet League Two.

Speaking to iFollow Glovers, Way was disappointed to see the performance level drop.

“I think the mistakes for the goals cost us,” he said. “The first one, we were on top for the first 15 minutes, we had some great chances, but that goal flies in and there was a little bit of anxiety.

“We couldn’t find our passes, but having said that we got back into the game and then we made the mistake for the second goal.

“There wasn’t sustained pressure, but I just felt the performance level and the consistency from the previous two games was disappointing.

“We played the first 15 minutes where we played like us but for the rest of the game we didn’t look as athletic as we have been.”

Town will now prepare for consecutive home games against Cheltenham Town and Morecambe, looking to continue a run of good results at Huish Park.

The Glovers have already seen off Accrington Stanley and Coventry City in front of home support, and Way is targeting a good week on the training ground to ensure the good home form continues.

“Some of them have to know the difference between a home performance and an away performance – that has to be improved to be successful this year.

“It’s important that we make sure the players understand to be consistent you have to work hard, so we’re going to keep working hard on the training ground to make sure we get it right.

“It will be interesting to see who comes out as mentally strong enough to make sure we look good going into Saturday.”
