After five games in a fortnight to kick-start the 2019/20 campaign, the first week without a midweek fixture has allowed the Glovers boss to finalise a move to Somerset.

Speaking to YTTV, he said: “I’m officially a resident of Somerset now, we’re fully committed to this. I’ve not done this half-heartedly; I won’t be travelling two or three times a week from Bedfordshire.

“I hope I’m here for many years, I’ve really enjoyed the South West and the region, especially when I’ve grown up around a city, I’m very excited and my family are too.

“I’ve committed because I want to make sure my body and my mind are in this football club. I want to make decisions that have me here for the next ten years.

“Let’s get this football club back into the Football League whatever time scale that is, and let’s do it organically and see the community and academy come together. The fun part is the journey, when you get there it’s nice for a night but the fun is in the journey. That matters, that makes the moment where your hard work culminates mean so much.”

Having had the benefit of a full week to recover from a hectic fixture schedule, the green and whites will look to extend their unbeaten run at home when Maidenhead United visit.

With a number of players on the sidelines through injury, Sarll issued an update on the fitness of his squad.

“Rhys Murphy and Lee Collins won’t be available. They’re big players with big personalities which is a big miss for us. That is exactly what we were missing against Barrow, that character and courage.

“They have been injured due to the way they train and play, the way they commit to everything. Murphy puts himself in the most dangerous positions every day because of his love for scoring goals.

“Craig Alcock will be training today (Friday) so he will be fine, but we have put a report into the National League about the two elbows because it was ridiculous. You can’t come out worse from an elbow to the face and say it was a full-blooded challenge.

“Luke Wilkinson has been back in training this week so he’s getting there with his fitness.”
