Simeon Akinola put the Bees ahead with an early strike from outside the box before Otis Khan levelled 10 minutes from time. 

Yeovil rallied in search of a winner and when Rhys Browne went over Charlie Clough’s leg in the area, they thought they might have an opportunity to grab all three points from the spot but referee Andy Woolmer waved away Glovers appeals.

“You’ve only got to look at the reaction from the supporters,” Way said.

“For five seconds there was it was disbelief that it wasn’t given. 

“If he thought it was a dive, why hasn’t he booked Rhys? It was a poor decision.

“The players fought back in the second half. I think we had 43 final third entries and there was only going to be one team that came out with a win but unfortunately the officials took that away from us.”

On Town’s second half performance, Way added: “The players showed true grit and determination in the second half.

“I think our supporters could see that with the way they applauded them at the end. I have to thank them for that because the players need support.”
