7th December 2018

In an all West Country affair, the green and whites will look to end a run of three consecutive league defeats in what will be just the third ever EFL meeting between the two sides.

After straight defeats on the road at Morecambe and Carlisle, Town returned to Somerset with a disappointing 3-0 loss at the hands of Port Vale to suffer back-to-back home defeats for the first time this season.

Following a 10-day break without a match, Town will now look to rediscover their scintillating early season form in which Darren Way’s side set numerous club records since entering the EFL in 2003.

Aiming for three points, the hosts will be unable to call upon James Bailey (knee), Omar Sowunmi (ankle) and Diallang Jaiyesimi (knee).

Town’s boss confirmed Alex Fisher (groin) and Olufela Olomola (hamstring) have returned to running in training and therefore could return, with question marks also over the fitness of Nathan Baxter (hip) and Bevis Mugabi (shoulder).

Whoever makes the matchday 18 will be facing a Rovers side with one win in their last four league outings.

However, a bright start to the campaign means the Gloucestershire outfit sit 10th in the table, healthily situated towards the play-off spots.

Head-to-head
Saturday’s encounter will be just the fourth meeting between the two sides since entering the EFL.

Losing 4-3 at the New Lawn in August the Glovers drew the reverse league fixture 0-0, whilst also recording a 2-0 Checkatrade Trophy win thanks to strikes from Nathan Smith and Connor Smith.

Officials
Michael Salisbury will be the man in the middle this weekend.

In what will be his 21st game of the season it’ll be his first involving the Glovers since February 2017 when he oversaw the 1-1 draw away at Hartlepool United.

He’ll be assisted by Samuel Ogles and Conor Farrell with Kevin Howick acting as fourth official.
