The hunt for Yeovil Town’s Girl Band got off to a roaring start at Huish Park last night with 17 girls attending the first audition for the group.

The Famous Company’s Choreographer put the girls through their paces before groups of four performed in front of the judges panel of Gary Johnson, Caron Johnson, Polly Maclellan and Adrian Hopper.

With top Sky Sports News reporter Gary Cotterill and ITV’s Chris Spittles on hand for television the event will undoubtedly be receiving good coverage on national and regional stations.

Even a top French football magazine sent over a photographer and journalist from Paris to do a feature in their magazine.

Once the group has been finalised the chosen girls will undertake a “Boot Camp” style training session before recording a record which will be available on i Tunes with proceeds going to the Football League’s nominated charity Prostate Cancer.

Commenting on the audition The Famous Company’s Polly Maclellan, who is project manager said: “I thought it went really well and it was particularly pleasing to have so many local girls taking part.

“Now we have the difficult task of picking the final five girls which will not be easy because all the girls were really brilliant. It’s an exciting project which is designed to give Yeovil Town maximum publicity and we hope a significant donation to the Official Football League Charity.

“Above all though it is something different and we are delighted to be working with Yeovil Town Football Club.”

Watch out for coverage on Sky Sports News around tea time today and on the ITV West local news programmes.
