Yeovil Town are pleased to announce the signing of former Nottingham Forest midfielder Simon Gillett on a two-year deal.

The 28-year-old has been on trial with the Glovers during pre-season featuring three times for Gary Johnson’s side scoring once, as well being an unused substitute for the 9-0 win over Dorchester on Monday night.

A graduate of Southampton’s youth system, Gillett made 31 appearances for Saints as well as enjoying loan spells at Walsall, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Doncaster and Yeovil between 2005 and 2009.

After joining Doncaster in the summer of 2010, the diminutive midfielder went on to make 68 appearances for Rovers before joining former manager Sean O’Driscoll at Nottingham Forest making a further 25 appearances, as well as enjoying a loan spell at Bristol City last season.

A part of the Blackpool 2007 play-off final winning squad which beat Yeovil 2-0 at Wembley to earn promotion to the Championship, Gillett will arrive in Somerset looking to build on the four appearances he already has for Town from a short loan spell during the 2006-07 season.

Everybody at the club wishes Simon a successful time at Huish Park.
