Formed in 1893 as Headingdon United, they became Oxford United in 1960.

The club currently play their home games at the Kassam Stadium, a ground which has a capacity of 12,500 spectators despite only having three stands.

Oxford have a large supporters base, shown at the 2011 Conference Playoff Final where 33,000 U’s supporters descended on Wembley to watch there team gain promotion back to the Football League after a four year absence.

The club has been to the national stadium once before in 1986, beating Queens Park Rangers by three goals to nil to win the League Cup Final in front of more than 90,000 spectators.

Now managed by former Blackburn Rovers boss Michael Appleton, the U’s play in a yellow and blue home strip complimented by a white and purple away kit.

After a respectable 13th place finish last season, Oxford are expected to challenge at the top end of League Two this campaign.
