Formed in 2002 by concerned Wimbledon supporters following the decision of the club to relocate to Milton Keynes, AFC Wimbledon has been incredibly successful – gaining five promotions in just nine years.

Affectionately known as the Wombles, they play their home games at Kingsmeadow which boasts a capacity of 4,850 and their home colours are blue and yellow.

Managed by local boy Neal Ardley, who started his career with Wimbledon and made a total of 245 appearances for the London-based side, they also have a proven goal threat in Adebayo Akinfenwa.

Physically built and a challenge for any League Two defence, the 32-year-old – who is nicknamed ‘the beast’ – has been attracting admiring glances from further up the football league pyramid and abroad.

However, he dispelled any rumours of a possible move by signing a new contract and he could be crucial for AFC Wimbledon in the coming campaign.
