Stanley were formed in 1968 after the town of Accrington had been without a football team for two years following the collapse of the original club in 1966. They had been formed in 1891 and

played in the Football League from 1921 to March 1962.

Stanley play their home games at the Wham Stadium which holds just over 5000; their homecolours are red and white.

They’re managed by former nonleague player John Coleman who had previously managed Stanley for thirteen years from 1999-2012 but a couple of unsuccessful jobs elsewhere, meant he was back at the Wham in 2014.

Unfortunately for Stanley, they lost two important players in Josh Windass and Matt Crooks to Rangers on pre contract terms in January, meaning they will be without their joint top scorer in

Windass. However striker Billy Kee may be a key part in Stanley’s possible promotion push once again, as he notched 17 goals last season.

Distance from Huish Park: 261 miles (around four and a half hours).

2015/16 season final position: 4th in League Two.

Odds on to finish: Win Outright 28/1, Promotion 13/2, (all odds sought from SkyBet)

Stanley are known across England for being a small club. This was brought to the nations attention when in the 1980’s an advert for milk, starring Ian Rush, mocked Stanley by making a reference to their obscurity.
