Manager Gary Johnson was disappointed with his side’s inability to create chances against Ipswich Town on Tuesday night as the Glovers’ five match unbeaten run came to an end.

Christophe Berra’s first half strike from close range was enough to see Mick McCarthy’s side leave Somerset with all three points, inflicting a first defeat on Yeovil since February 8th.

Substitute Kieffer Moore struck the post in second half stoppage time but Johnson was left disappointed with the overall performance.

“The game is about percentages at the moment; the two teams at the top of the league, Leicester and Burnley, play those percentages and keep it up there and it looks like good play but if it’s not done well then it looks scrappy and I thought today it was very scrappy unfortunately.

“It’s small margins, we hit the post right at the end and a draw would’ve got us back in it but it wasn’t to be. I just said to the lads ‘you’ve had a good run but we were poor today’. We’ve got to have a good look at certain people as to what they are doing and how they are effecting the game and then we’ve got to be ready for two big games at QPR and Wigan and try and win one out of the two.”

Despite having 52% of the possession Town managed just one shot on target, leaving the Yeovil manager disappointed with his side’s creativity.

“We didn’t create any chances really did we? It was Tommy Lawrence really who was the one creating the runs and opportunities and we didn’t create enough chances and we’ve had a chat about that.

“I thought that we looked like, with the same group of players who played their hearts out against Sheffield Wednesday, a bit lacklustre; we weren’t as sharp as we were against Sheffield Wednesday so that was disappointing.

“We’ve got to look at it and we’ve got to improve going into the remaining twelve games of the season. We’re there with everybody else and we’ve got to get another little run together before the end of the season.”

The Glovers travel to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday and Johnson hasn’t ruled out changes for the visit to Loftus Road.

“We’ll have to freshen things up because there are a couple of knocks and we’ll have to wait and see how they are but everybody is going to want to play at QPR so anyone we leave out is going to be a bit disappointed.”
