Manager Gary Johnson believes his side lacked the necessary “last bit of quality” as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield at Huish Park.

Tom Lawrence’s free-kick drew the Glovers level after Nahki Wells gave The Terriers the lead, but Adam Clayton’s 96th minute winner all but confirmed Town’s relegation from the Championship.

In a bid to win central defender Byron Webster was deployed as a striker, but Johnson felt his side lacked the necessary quality in the final third.

“We went for the win even at the end,” said Johnson. “But if you haven’t quite got the quality out there you can have seven players up front and it just leaves you short at the back because you’re not creating as many chances as the better players can.

“They left three players up front who are very quick who they paid a million or so for and one-v-one they’re good players and if you leave them like that then they can hurt you and that’s exactly what happened.

“We were going for it and we’d had a few little corners and set-plays but when it came down to that last bit of quality, whether it be a cross, a shot or a header, it wasn’t quite there again today.”

Whilst Yeovil’s first ever season in the English second tier does not look like being extended, the gaffer admits there are a lot of decisions to be made during the off-season.

“There’s got to be a lot of discussion first. We’ve got to know what we can bring in, who is staying and who is going; everybody has got to look at their plight and their situation and whether that needs to carry on or wants to carry on.

“There’s a lot of things that have got to happen and it’s going to be an important summer for the Football Club and everybody has got to make decisions. Only until everyone has made those decisions do you then sit down and work out what the future holds.”
