Manager Gary Johnson was left ruing a refereeing decision which denied Yeovil an opening goal at Loftus Road in a match which resulted in a 3-0 defeat.

Referee Mark Brown scratched out Luke Ayling’s 30 yard lob after ruling that James Hayter had fouled goalkeeper Rob Green in the process of taking a goal-kick.

The goal would have been just deserts for the Glovers who entertained the 1,388 travelling faithful in the opening 25 minutes, and Johnson believes Ayling’s second senior goal should have stood.

“Like every game that you lose you are a bit disappointed that you lost, especially as we thought we scored a good goal in the first 25 minutes.

“The referee’s view of it was that because the player was standing there the keeper tried to skip round him and slipped so he mishit the ball and he said that was our centre forward’s fault and not the goalkeeper’s.

“We had the pressure then in the first 25 minutes. Our supporters were fantastic for us and they were enjoying it up there end as there was a lot of play for us and it should have been allowed in my book.”

A brace from Ravel Morrison and header from substitute Bobby Zamora earned Harry Redknapp’s side victory to inflict a second straight defeat on Yeovil.

But Johnson was full of praise for the vocal travelling support and admits that QPR’s extra quality saw away with his Glovers side.

“The fans were definitely up for it and credit to them they were brilliant and they certainly sung more than the QPR fans.

“We did start off well and they got us going and we got them going and they went right to the very end. We don’t want them to have a great day out and still get beat and lose but we are at a big club in QPR with lots of pounds going into things but that’s where we are and I thought the boys tried hard enough to warrant the supporters support, and we really appreciate that, we do.

“I did say to the boys we mustn’t let them down and I thought they did do well but sometimes the extra quality catches you.”
