Manager Gary Johnson believes the Glovers are playing for their pride when they face play-off chasing Brighton this evening.

The fixture against Albion is live on Sky Sports 1, and although Yeovil’s bid to beat the drop is over after defeat to Huddersfield on Monday, Johnson’s side will still be looking to spoil Brighton’s push for promotion.

“It is all on them,” said Johnson. “For us, win lose or draw, it will only be our pride at stake, unless Birmingham can lose 13 or more goals in three games.

“So we can go into it and we can enjoy it. Our supporters can enjoy it and hopefully our players can show why they’ve been in the Championship for this season.”

After the disappointment of impending relegation, the Glovers gaffer is hoping to see what his players have learnt over the last few weeks in front of what is sure to be an almost capacity crowd at Amex Stadium.

“It’s simple in that if we win, then they could be out of the play-offs. So it’s a big one for them. They’ve had the highest average attendance at their ground at around 30,000 so it’s going to be a fantastic atmosphere. It is a great stadium. But we’re there to do our job. The professional job is that we’ve got to do the best that we can.

“They’re a good couple of games to finish and see whether we’ve learned anything from the last few weeks, and when the pressure is off whether players are a bit better.

“Brighton are going to have to come and put us under pressure – that’s for sure. They’ve got to win the game, but they’ll know that we’re not an easy team to turn over.”
