In what was an eventful afternoon at Hayes Lane, Darren Sarll saw his side gain a point against Bromley.

A sending off apiece and a 97th minute leveller through Rhys Murphy meant Yeovil Town moved up to fourth in the National League.

Speaking to YTTV on the action-packed afternoon, the Gaffer said;

“The sending’s off changed the game. It becomes a bit of a joust, but I thought we played okay.

“What they’re good at, they’re very conditioned at doing what they do and we’re still developing that.

“For the goal, we moved the ball about five or six times which really pleased me. Lawson (D’Ath) is very good at that.

“We kept working the ball and Gold (Omotayo), I was delighted for him as he’s worked so hard on that side of his game. Gold is a massive part of the goal. 90% of that goal is him. Murphy is that kid when you were growing up that stood on the goal line but took all the plaudits.

“I think we deserved it on play. It looked a soft penalty, but I am 80-yards away. For our sending off it looked to me that the forward was offside anyway. I’ll check that again though.”

The Gaffer has made no secret of his attempts to secure the signing of a defender this week.

Despite his efforts, nothing came to fruition ahead of Saturday’s game.

“I tried all day Wednesday and Thursday. I didn’t coach the backend of the week which is unheard of for me. It’s probably the first time in twenty years.

“I spent all sessions, day and night on the phone. We were very close. We did agree terms with a Football League club but it wasn’t profitable enough for the individual concerned.

“We will keep going and keep trying. I just thought that the character and energy of the young players today, like Albi Skendi, he knows he has more in him now.

“Tom Bradbury, I thought was one million times better, maybe a little too abrasive giving away a few too many free kicks, but at least he was in there. I’d rather he gives away free kicks than step back.

“Hippolyte, I thought was great again, Murphy, I thought he was quiet, but he’s just got that quality.”
