Yeovil Town Football Club have received the following email from Exeter City fan Neil Le Milliere.
We (the Exeter Exiles/London Grecians and the Greek Grecians) were hoping we could get a feature on your website, before our friendly about Johny Brown who has been our host on the Greek island of Andros until he died earlier this year. This was one of his fondest wishes when chatting and we know his family would love to see it
Johny was Yeovil’s top scorer in season 1972/3 and his first game for you was a friendly at the St James Park where he also scored. Exeter looked at signing him after his performance in the friendly but they could offer no more than he was getting from Yeovil so it came to nothing and he went on to be the Yeovil topscorer that season. He then left Yeovil for Weymouth for £2000 halfway through the following season (still finished second top goalscorer) after you signed Dick Plumb.
When one of our members first visited the Island eight or nine years ago he found Johny running the bar at Vila Rena with his partner Rena, and this then became our base for visiting the island and playing matches against the locals. Johny even played for using the early years – at number 9 of course.
He then founded the Greek Grecian Fans Connection and decorated the bar in honour of ECFC.
