The Young Glovers had scored nine goals in their previous three league outings heading to Forest Green Rovers, but with depleted numbers slumped to a 5-2 defeat in Gloucestershire.

With just 10 under-18s scholars available to choose from due to injury and suspension, Terry Moore’s side produced a disappointing performance in both boxes.

Looking out of sorts compared to their usual standards, Town found themselves 2-0 down after just eight minutes due to lapses in concentration at the back.

Boasting the best goal difference in the division before kick-off, the green and whites created their usual array of chances in the final third but lacked the finishing touch to drag themselves back into the game.

By the halfway stage the Young Glovers found themselves 4-1 down, with Hong Wan’s penalty only acting as consolation.

Needing a strong start to the second half Town were dealt a blow in just the 48th minute when Forest Green added a fifth.

With the three points lost and the unbeaten run now at an end, the visitors reduced the deficit to three when Ollie Hebbard – from the Elite Player Development Programme – netted to make it 5-2, but it wasn’t enough to spark a dramatic comeback although Yeovil remain top of the table.
