The Glovers are looking to kickstart their Vanarama National League campaign after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat on the opening day at Barnet.

Simeon Akinola’s second half penalty was all that came between Darren Sarll’s side and their first points of the season, but they now have the chance to pick up the first win on home soil.

Nine players made their Glovers debut in the capital and are now in line to make their bow at Huish Park, although Myles Hippolyte (head) is a doubt after only making it to half-time at the weekend.

Elsewhere, Luke Wilkinson and Carl Dickinson were the only other injury absentees with the latter closest to a return to the field.

For the visitors, they’ll head from Hampshire full of confidence after a winning start on Saturday.

Reda Johnson’s header was enough to see off nine-man Notts County at the Silverlake Stadium, with Scott Rendell the only former Glovers in their ranks.

A full breakdown of how Ben Strevens’ side got on can be found here.

Head-to-head

The midweek meeting will be the first-ever competitive fixture between the two sides.

With the Spitfires coming up through the non-league ranks in recent years, the fifth tier encounter will go down in the history books.

Officials

Lloyd Wood will be the man in the middle on Tuesday night, taking charge of his first match involving the green and whites.

Last season, Mr Wood oversaw 19 National League fixtures awarding 43 yellow and three red cards.

In Somerset he’ll be assisted by Adam Ricketts and Declan O’Shea with Craig Cox acting as fourth official.
