Yeovil Town enter the first round of the FA Cup with home advantage as Hartlepool United visit Huish Park.

After a last gasp defeat last month against The Pools, Saturday’s (3pm) fixture is a chance for the green and whites to exact some revenge.

Victory for Town will see Darren Sarll’s side progress to the second round of the FA Cup, just one game away from the Premier League sides.

Head-to-head

Our last meeting with Hartlepool was a disappointing one. The Glovers travelled to Victoria Park in fine form, but the hosts would prove formidable opposition, taking the lead through Gime Toure. Yeovil looked to have secured a point at the death as Rhys Murphy flicked home James Tilley’s cross, but Jason Kennedy scored the latest of winners to claim three points for North-East side.

A memorable victory against Hartlepool came in March 2010. A Glovers side which included current player Craig Alcock smashed four goals past the Pools for a comfortable 4-0 victory.

Town also contested a topsy-turvy FA Cup tie with this weekend’s opponents in December 2010, after taking a 2-goal lead. Hartlepool sprung into life thanks to an Anthony Sweeney hat-trick, eventually running out the 4-2 victors.

Officials

Peter Gibbons will be the man in the middle on Saturday, this will be his second FA Cup game of the season. Gibbons will be assisted by Steve Durnall and Declan O’Shea with Alex Blake acting as the fourth official.
