Midfielder Ruben Palazuelos is only six games in to his footballing career in England but already recognises the importance of Friday’s fixture with Blackburn.

The Glovers travel to Lancashire later this week for what has been dubbed a ‘must win’ fixture for Gary Johnson’s side as they look to beat the drop from the Championship.

Palazuelos, who arrived at Huish Park from FC Honka in Finland, has made an impact since signing for Town in February and believes anything can happen in the remaining four fixtures.

“Everything is possible at the moment,” said the Spaniard. “There are four games left until the end of the season and we have a ‘final’ on Friday, we have to get the three points and then see what happens.

“Everyone knows that it is a difficult situation but I think at the moment we have 36 points and are five points from avoiding relegation with twelve points to play for so in life everything is possible; we have to try, we have to believe and then see what happens.”

Yeovil currently sit bottom of the second tier after Barnsley’s 2-1 victory at Charlton on Tuesday night, and Palazuelos admits that Friday’s match is the last chance saloon for the Glovers.

“Every game is a final for us at the moment, but probably even more so on Friday because it is the last chance for us so we have to go there and have confidence because I think the last game against Bournemouth in a different situation would have been three points and we were unlucky.

“They scored but the performance from the team was good so now we have confidence and we’re a good team, with good players so we have to go to Blackburn and try and win the game, there is no other way. The important thing for us is to get the three points which I think will happen.”

The 31-year-old’s only previous experience of football in the UK was during a spell with Hearts in Scotland and although the midfielder has never battled relegation before, he believes he is up for the fight.

“I’ve played in six different countries and I can’t remember fighting relegation but now it is different because when I was in Spain I always wanted to play in England and now I want to play for this team in Yeovil.

“It’s a different situation but it’s also a good situation and I’m sure I can manage with it and I hope on Friday we can get the three points and everything can change.”
