The midfielder had been out of action since November with a hamstring complaint and completed 90 minutes as the Glovers progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition.

The victory ended Town’s five-match winless run and Dolan is hoping it will begin a turnaround in fortunes in Sky Bet League Two.

“It was brilliant to get back out there,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel.

“It’s been a long six-and-a-half weeks, touching seven. It’s been hard work but I was delighted to get back out there and to get a win was really good.

“We spoke before the game on Tuesday how important it was for us to get back to winning ways.

“We look forward to Wycombe now and we take a bit of confidence into that game.”

He added: “We’ve got a really good squad with a good mentality so everyone is confident.

“With the mentality we’ve got it’s vitally important for us over the next few weeks to put results in and get some points on the board.”

Tuesday’s result saw Town get back to scoring ways after three games without a goal.

Dolan has been on target three times this season and is looking to add more to his game in the second part of the season, starting at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday (3pm).

“I chipped in with three and then it was disappointing to miss such a chunk (of the season),” he said.

“I’ll get back out there and hopefully I’ll be back on the scoresheet soon.”

He continued: “You know it’s going to be tough with the players they have got.

“I think they’re on a 13-game unbeaten run but we fancy ourselves against anyone.

“We’ll do our homework on them, give them a real good run for their money and come out with the three points we need.”
