Town earned a share of the spoils against the south coast promotion chasers and almost won the match late on as Otis Khan hit the bar.

It was the second time in two games Yeovil have hit the bar in a goalless encounter and Lawless believes if they keep pushing, one will go in soon.

“It’s a mixed bag of feelings,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel

“Looking at the positives it’s definitely a point gained but based on the fact we hit the bar and we gave a promotion-pushing team a good go and that’s a statement of our intent.

“We’re putting the work in. The application and the determination is there and if we keep knocking on the door it’ll be bar and in next time.

“As the season goes on we’re gradually getting more and more belief which is going to put us in good stead going into the New Year.”

Lawless completed his sixth consecutive 90 minutes in the league since returning from a groin injury.

The Welshman picked up the man of the match award but says he would have swapped his personal accolade for a victory.

He said: “It’s always nice to get personal things like that but I’ve said many times before I’d take the win over man of the match but it is nice.

“I’ll use it as a confidence booster to help the lads in the next game.”

Town take on Crawley Town in their first game of 2017 on Monday, January 2nd (3pm).
