With virtually the last kick of the game the Welshman struck a free-kick from a difficult angle on the left of the penalty area to take all three points back to Somerset.

During the week, James spoke about how a win was coming and was delighted with how the hard work on the training ground has paid dividends.

Talking to iFollow Glovers he said: “Personally, it’s always nice to get the winner but there’s a lot of work that went into this, not just today on the pitch but on the training ground for the past few weeks.

“Some people probably would’ve crossed it from there, but I knew it was last minute, I thought I’ll put it in there, hit a target and see what happens and thankfully the keeper missed it.

“I think people might have gotten a bit carried away with the fact we hadn’t won in a few but we’ve put that to bed because we got the win and three points.”

The win lifts the green and whites back into the top half and six-points off the play-offs.

Picking up their seventh clean sheet of the season, Nathan Baxter had to be in fine form to deny the Cumbrians a goal with James acknowledging the young stoppers performance.

“Nath (Baxter) kept us in that quite a few times. He made some really good saves. As a whole I think the back five did really well, we limited them to a couple of shots.

“The shots they did have Nath saved so the whole team defended really well, we had a good shape and a game plan and it worked.

“We’ve got to say a special thanks to the fans that came, there was a fair few of them coming all this way from south to north.

“It’s a hell of a trip for them so for us to give them the three points we’ve got to say thanks to them.”
