Yeovil Town have secured the services of Cardiff defender Ben Nugent on loan until January 4th.

The 21-year-old, who is the son of former Glovers defender Richard Nugent, arrives at Huish Park on a loan deal which will see him remain in South Somerset until early 2015.

Nugent helped The Bluebirds seal promotion to the Premier League during the 2012/13 campaign making 14 appearances and scoring once, eventually being named Cardiff’s Young Player of the Season.

The 6’5” central defender enjoyed loan spells at Brentford and Peterborough last season, scoring twice in five games for The Bees.

Manager Gary Johnson was delighted to add the central defender to the Glovers’ ranks.

"I know him and the family very well. His dad played for me at Kettering and he also played for Yeovil. I’ve known Richard and the family for a long time.

"I can remember Ben as a ten-year-old smashing up my living room playing football as a little kid. I’ve always been interested in his career.

"He had a fantastic year at Cardiff under Malky Mackay in the Championship when they got promoted. He’s 6ft 5ins, he’s left-footed and he’s a good player.

Everybody at the club wishes Ben a successful time at Huish Park.
