Darren Sarll says that the Glovers cannot dwell on the disappointing defeat against Bromley in midweek and must be ready to ‘attack’ the next game, despite their seven game winning run at Huish Park coming to an end.

After a quiet first half, the National League clash made its breakthrough in the second half after Michael Cheek opened the scoring for the visitors, before Rhys Murphy equalised in the 63rd minute.

It looked like the game was going to be a share of the spoils, but a freak late own goal from Reuban Reid shattered Town’s hopes of securing an important point in Somerset and having the chance to move ever closer to the foot of the play-off places.

Reflecting on the result, Sarll told BBC Somerset: “It’s a tough one to take. I thought we were the better side initially when we had the impact of Knowles and Reid, but to concede right at the end and with a freak goal like it was, was really tough to take.

Unfortunately, these things happen, but I always look at the positive side of this group, I always enjoy watching this side grow. I thought we performed well tonight and moved the ball around them quite well.

I think this group has real promise and it’s still a long way to go yet. I said to the players beforehand not to worry about the talk, about the play-offs, about our league position, just concentrate on having really high performances and the results will take care of themselves.

It’s a tight league at the moment but it’s all about taking the opportunities when they come around to the push up the table. Tonight, was probably the youngest team that I’ve ever put out and I’m really excited about the group going forward. I think they are very close to jumping over that last hurdle and I really believe that. It’s just a case of building as much momentum as possible going forward.”

With the games coming thick and fast over a busy period, the Glovers return to action this Saturday as Notts County make the trip to Huish Park, and Sarll is eager to return to winning ways this weekend.

We’ve got to take the positives from this game now and go and attack the next.

We’ve got some real big games coming up and the schedule is relentless, so we’ve got to make sure that we’re ready for those games

“Every game in this league is big but they’re even bigger come the business end of the season.”
