The club’s drive to help provide basic foods and comforts to those in need this Christmas has taken a major step forward thanks to the Quedam Centre, Yeovil.

The campaign, which is being driven in partnership with the club’s charitable arm, Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, had been looking for a unit in the Town Centre and the Quedam Centre have very kindly come forward and donated the former Orange unit (opposite Primark) for the campaign to use this week – from Monday to Thursday, including late night shopping on Thursday evening.

The project is being driven by one of the club’s new owners Errol Pope who is working closely with Club Padre Jim Pearce and Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust Manager Sara Bradley.

Mr Pope both expressed his thanks to the Quedam and explained how the unit would be used when he said “Projects like this depend on generous giving and the Quedam deserve great thanks for providing us with this unit. I would also like to thank Howards Peugeot for the use of their van to enable us to transfer items to and from the unit. Our aim in the unit this week is to spread Christmas cheer and festivities and invite community interaction over a glass of non-alcoholic mulled wine and a nibble of specially made mince pies. We will have Christmas stockings for the little ones plus games and activities for them to enjoy whilst adults can rest their weary feet lounging in the Nativity corner. For families finding it hard this Christmas we have some brand-new leather school shoes and self-filter water bottles – all available for a modest donation. We welcome all visitors to the unit so please come and see us even if you just want a chat”.

This news of the unit comes after the appeal concluded a very successful first phase of the campaign where fans were urged to donate to the Lord’s Larder by dropping off non-perishable groceries at the club shop. This first phase ended on Saturday and saw a very impressive collection of donations.

The club would like to record it thanks to everyone who has donated so generously to the campaign.
