The Glovers took all three points in their last away outing at Chesterfield – their first win on the road since March – with captain Bailey netting a last-gasp winner.

The ex-Derby County man, an ever-present in the Yeovil team this season, is confident of another victory at Rodney Parade and says the squad have to be self-assured in their own ability. 

Bailey told iFollow Glovers: “Every game we’re confident and you have to have that and a bit of arrogance that you’re going to win. 

“Otherwise what’s the point of going into a game saying ‘let’s not lose today’? None of us think like that.

“Every game we play we want to win and with the squad we’ve got I feel we’ve always got a good chance. 

He added: “It’s different for me being captain. The gaffer showed confidence in me to give me the armband. The players and I have got to repay the faith he’s showed and pick up a few more wins.

“We’re nearly there but we need to win now and that’s what’s important.

“Let’s get a little run going. We are a little inconsistent with the way we’re playing; for instance, we’ll play really well one game and the next we’ll play bad then we’ll be alright. We need to find that consistency but that’ll come.”

Manager Darren Way invited former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp to training this week to offer his experience to himself and the players.

Bailey is open to receiving any advice from the 70-year-old but insists everyone is fully focused on this weekend’s match in Wales.

“What’s happened is good for the players and the staff but we’ve got to concentrate on Saturday,” he said. 

“It was fresh for every but we’re footballers and our job is to concentrate on the football and the next game.

“Someone who has had the managerial career he has should always be asked for advice. It’s more important to listen to what he has to say and implement that into your game.

“You can only concentrate on the next game and I feel we have done that. On Saturday it’s down to the players.”
