After three consecutive defeats, goals from Courtney Duffus, Luke Wilkinson and Myles Hippolyte secured three points for the Glovers.

Upon reflection, Sarll felt that it was his side’s aggression that made the difference in Somerset.

Speaking to YTTV, Town’s boss said: “It was nice to see aggression in the players who do not normally exude aggressive traits. I’ve been working really hard with Lawson (D’Ath), Matt (Worthington) and Myles (Hippolyte) and I thought all three of them showed real aggression.

“Courtney (Duffus) terrorised them all game. Imagine coming up against him and Gold (Omotayo). The thing I’m most pleased about Courtney’s development is his aggression. He is using every muscle in his body to his advantage.

“I have high standards and I don’t like losing, the fans have been so supportive despite those three defeats. I set a lot of pressure on myself and the players too. They were magnificent.

“All those wonderful things we saw against Eastleigh were on show again and we were good quality. It was about time we scored from a set-piece, with our power.”

Depleted numbers meant a change in system as the green and whites lined up with four at the back.

However, the unfamiliar formation seemed to work a trick as the hosts were largely able to keep the visitors at arm’s length.

“I like to keep things simple; I like to play with five defenders, but we didn’t have five available, so we played with four. On Tuesday, if we have five available, we might return to our more familiar shape.

“Once we digest what has happened we’ll decide what the best shape is to play against Sutton but they’re all decisions we can make once you’ve had time to sleep on it and the emotions to settle.”
