Ben’s Bets

After a disastrous start to the tipping last Saturday (I tipped Leeds to beat Millwall for starters!) we try again this week and hopefully will have some slightly better luck.

I’ve picked one team from each of the three SkyBet football leagues and using the League’s principal sponsors putting the three together in a small accumulator.

Starting in the SkyBet Championship I’m looking to Bournemouth to get us off to a winning start.

They face Brentford and the two sides have had very different starts to the season.

Brentford drew their opening game against Charlton before travelling to Dagenham for an epic League Cup tie that saw 12 goals, 120 minutes of match action and a penalty shootout.

The Bees did eventually progress, but the extra time excursions and the upcoming away  day on the south coast makes the Cherries the heavy favourites.

Bournemouth’s two opening fixtures have gone much more smoothly, a 4-0 away win at Huddersfield was backed up with a 2-0 win in the cup against Exeter.

Eddie Howe now takes his side back to the home comforts of the Goldstands Stadium.

Bournemouth to beat Brentford at 17/20

Into League One and Chesterfield upset the odds on the opening weekend beating big spending Leyton Orient 2-1, they take the chance to perform at home this coming Saturday and they can cope with the pressure of favouritism against a Rochdale side who have lost both their opening two games without even scoring a goal.

‘Dale have been beaten twice at home by Preston and Peterborough and with Chesterfield to come it won’t get any easier any sooner.

I’m surprised to see Chesterfield at a price higher than Evens so this also represents good value.

Finally, in League Two the most emphatic victory of last weekend was probably that of Morecambe who demolished Dagenham and Redbridge 3-0 away from home.

They went on to face Bradford in the League Cup and so very nearly caused an upset against the cup runners up of the competition last season.

Only a very late Aaron McClean goal sent the Bantams through but the Shrimpers can build on some decent momentum.

They face Newport County this Saturday and the newly promoted side lost against Wycombe last Saturday and then Reading in midweek.

Again, the home side are favourites but still at a tempting price.

Morecambe are 13/10 to win at home against Newport.

Putting these three together pays out at over 7/1; a £5 treble returns over £43.

With the Premier League starting this weekend too, there is a host of markets and opportunities to get involved with betting with SkyBet.

Yeovil Special

With Yeovil out for revenge this weekend against Gillingham, I’ve looked through the 54 markets available on the match to find some value.

Firstly, Simon Gillett is the only man to score so far for the Glovers and he is a whopping 6/1 to score at any time on Saturday, if we get another free kick just outside

the box, that may seem like excellent value.

Secondly, both of the Yeovil ‘keepers have been subject to a couple rash moments in the first two games, however, no-one will have worked harder than Chris Weale and

Artur Krysiak to put that right.

Yeovil are21/10 to keep a clean sheet this Saturday, sure to boost confidence it will go a long way to securing a positive result.

Combine the two and you’re in for real value.

Gillett to score in a 1-0 Yeovil win is 90/1, even just £1 on that will pay for a good weekend!

Don’t forget to go to SkyBet for your weekend bets where every bet goes towards the Sky Transfer Fund which could win the club £250,000
