The 22-year-old joined on loan from Bradford City in the summer and hit a stunning debut winner from the bench in the 1-0 victory over Grimsby Town.

With Town making it to the semi-finals last season Patrick is hoping to go one step further and is inspired by thought of stepping onto that hallowed Wembley turf for the final.

Speaking to YTFC.net he said: “Of course everyone has Wembley in the back of their mind, last season we got knocked out in the semi-final so we were just that inch away from getting that dream.

“You might only have one chance to play at Wembley in your career so I think that will inspire us. People say it’s only the Checkatrade Trophy but we’re taking it seriously and we’ll go into the game and try to win it.”

Patrick’s one and only start in green and white came in the 0-0 draw with Exeter City in their first Checkatrade match.

Having only made appearances from the bench since, the Bradford loanee is still maintaining his positive attitude.

“You should always strive to take every opportunity you’re given, whether you’re starting a game or coming off the bench its always the same to me. You’ve got to have that positive mindset that you’re going contribute to the team.

“We’re just going to concentrate on ourselves as a team, we know the quality that we have in this team in both defence and attack and all around the pitch we feel we can match any team I think we have that level of confidence.

“A win will put is in a nice position in the group and then we just go onto the next one and take it game by game.”
