So, here we are again and fresh from another eventful Saturday at Huish Park. Supporting Yeovil Town is an absolute rollercoaster and it really is not good for my heart rate!
I thought that we were outstanding in the first half against Gillingham and in all honesty the match should have been settled by the break. We could have quite easily been 3-0 up, but all season we have struggled to take our chances.
Unfortunately, we were unable to match our level of performance in the second half and let them back in to the game. Gillingham are a good side and I am sure they will continue to do well this season but the least we deserved was the point.
When Adam Morgan stepped up, I will admit I was nervous. I had slight Ishmael Miller flashbacks from last season. As much as I loved Miller for all the goals he scored for us, his penalties will continue to haunt me. However, Morgan had nerves of steel and it was a penalty that James Hayter would have been proud of.
Only time will tell if the point will be enough, but once again we scored twice at home and I do feel that had we lost, mission survival would have endured a HUGE setback. We must go on one hell of a run, but that doesn’t mean it is impossible.
It is certainly not just us struggling this season, with Aston Villa languishing in the bottom three in the Premier League. Having appointed Tim Sherwood I thought that their home game against Stoke would have been an ideal opportunity to kick start their survival bid.
However, that did not quite go to plan and they suffered a 2- 1 defeat in the last minute. A club as huge as Villa will really struggle to come to terms with relegation and will be desperate to avoid the drop.
Sherwood will certainly take no prisoners, but he must get them playing more exciting football and get the fans back on side. It really is so important to have a high level of support when you are struggling, something that we are lucky enough to have no matter what.
Managerial changes can often spark a revival and I think it was much needed at Villa after what has been an awful season and they are the lowest scorers in all four leagues.
However, it is not always the correct decision and I was shocked to hear that Brentford’s Mark Warburton will be leaving his post at the end of this season. Brentford have had an unbelievable season and with new owners looked to be going from strength to strength. However, due to a difference in “football philosophies” Warburton will now leave his position. Quite frankly, this to me seems like a crazy decision.
He got them promoted to the Championship and now sit seventh in the table, just one point off the play – offs. How any owner could not reward such a record is staggering.
I think it is commendable that he is sticking with the side and they still managed to pick up a great result at home to Bournemouth sealing a 3-1 win. It is no wonder that football fans lose faith in their clubs but one thing is for sure, he will not struggle to get a job after his last two seasons.
Goal of the week
Liverpool have been on a great run of late, after a slow start to the season. They sealed a great win against Southampton and this early opener from Coutinho was truly spectacular. What a strike!

Next up, we face a long trip to Scunthorpe in what will be a tough but crucial game. If we could seal the three points then everyone will sit up and take notice. I cannot wait to see the battle of former team mates Byron Webster and Paddy Madden.
I am sure Byron will not go easy on him. I hope we all give Paddy a warm reception…it is great to see him doing so well. I’m also hoping that Joe Edwards will be pushing for a start again after his injury, but it may come too soon for him.
I am sure he is itching to get back on the pitch and I certainly cannot wait to see him back! Although, seeing him on Saturday was a personal highlight – every cloud eh?! So, safe journey to all the Yeovil fans and hopefully all the miles will be worth it as Mission Survival continues!
