Stansfield was diagnosed with bowel cancer following a series of tests for an abdominal complaint in April 2010, and sadly passed away in August of the same year aged 31.

Born in Tiverton, Stansfield made his debut for Town in 2001 and scored 17 goals in  65 appearances for the club.

One of his most memorable strikes came in the Glovers’ FA Trophy triumph over Stevenage in 2002.

Stansfield coolly finished midway through the second half at Villa Park to double Yeovil’s advantage and settle the contest. He also picked up the man of the match award.

A hugely popular figure at Huish Park, Stansfield also featured for Monday’s opponents Exeter City on over 150 occasions.
