Yeovil Town F.C. can confirm that reluctantly it has been forced to scale back its Academy operations due to the double impact of Covid 19 and an automatic reduction in Academy funding grants that occurs if a former EFL club remains in the National League for a second season.

Effective immediately, the club will be moving to a Category 4 Academy status, which means although the U18 element of the Academy will continue as before, all other age groups (i.e. U16s and below) will cease operation.

The club is already in communication with the parents of the boys currently in the age groups concerned with a view to easing their paths to new clubs and offering welfare support where needed.

Despite this news, Yeovil Town remains committed to creating opportunities for and nurturing young, upcoming footballers from the area. To underline this commitment, in addition to a more compact Academy operation, the club will continue to operate its Elite Development Programme in partnership with Yeovil College and offer a wide variety of programmes via the club’s community arm – Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust.
