Yeovil Town’s pre-season preparations continue with a trip to the seaside to face Weston-super-Mare.

After a 1-2 victory over Frome on Friday night thanks to goals from Albi Skendi and Carl Dickinson, the green and white players will be looking for their second win of the pre-season campaign.

Darren Sarll’s thoughts

Speaking after his side’s victory Frome, the gaffer was pleased with the progress made physically, something he will be looking for more of against Weston.

“I thought physically we looked a lot better. With the extra week of training, you can really see the difference in our performances physically.

“There were times in the first half where we played far too innocently and naïvely for a shape we know well, second half we were a lot better tactically.

“Physically both halves I was ultimately very pleased.”

Squad news

Yeovil could be without Luke Wilkinson who took a knock during Friday’s pre-season encounter, speaking after the game Sarll said: “The unfortunate part of pre-season is injuries and I think Wilkinson picked up an injury.

“We won’t know much about it until Monday but any sort of injury to Luke is a worrying time when you’re the manager.”

A foot in the opposition camp

Southern League Premier outfit Weston-super-Mare have enjoyed a busy summer after their return to Step 3 of the National League pyramid was cut short due to COVID-19.

High-profile additions include the return of Dayle Grubb who signed a four-year contract after falling out of favour and leaving Forest Green Rovers earlier this year.

The Seagulls also boast Scott Laird amongst their ranks, the player/assistant previously enjoyed spells with Stevenage and Preston North End before linking up with Weston-super-Mare manager Scott Bartlett to join his coaching staff.
