An update on all club matters

Ahead of the 21/22 season commencing, Yeovil Town can offer an update on all areas of the football club.

Chairman Scott Priestnall said, “After a tough 18-months without fans, we’re delighted to be preparing for a season with you behind us once again. I have to say my first two years as Chairman have not been without difficulty. The pandemic has affected all of us and we still live-in hope that the worst of this virus is behind us, and we can move forward with a happier and safer future.

“I would also like to thank everyone who contributed to the raising of funds for Lee Collins’ family, it was extremely generous.  Lee was our captain and will never be forgotten.

“On the pitch, we are currently building a squad that has the potential to be competitive within this division, with a blend of youth and experience.

“Off the pitch, we are making strides to improve the match-day experience at Huish Park for all stakeholders, with multiple plans in place including a new bar area behind the Thatcher’s Gold Stand.

“It’s great to see so many of you have already purchased season tickets ahead of the new season, as you, the fans, are the lifeblood of our great club.

“There’s certainly lots to be excited about ahead of the new season, I’ll see you all at Huish Park very soon!”

The Squad

Darren Sarll has been making strides to build his squad in preparation for his third season at the helm, speaking in a recent interview, he said; “They’ve been very, very good. It’s a very different team, that’s going to have to play a very different way.

“They’ve been excellent, they’re going to have to create a new dynamic, but the biggest thing for us was the change in athleticism. There are some frighteningly athletic young & older men out there now!

“The biggest thing is that we have to cut-through and unfilter all of our work to be ready for the start of the season.”

To avoid conjecture & rumour, we can confirm that Albi Skendi is currently absent from Yeovil Town training. However, Skendi does remain under contract with the football club.

During the off-season, the club has worked hard to improve the experience around Huish Park on a match-day and during the week. Commercial Manager Mark Robinson has shared the latest updates around our conference facilities, match-day experience plans and sponsorship:

Conference facilities

As the world starts to come alive again, so too has our conference facilities with bookings for meetings and training courses starting to happen again and enquiries are increasing.

During the lockdown period we were a regular venue for hosting virtual conferences, an example of how we as an organisation had to adapt to the current business climate. However, we are now delighted to confirm that Huish Park Conference centre is open for business offering tailored meeting and conferencing options.

Match-day experience

During the coming season everyone at YTFC are looking to improve supporters experience of visiting Huish Park, we will be showing the televised fixtures live prior to our home games and after our final whistle within the Alec Stock lounge. This lounge is open to all home fans who wish to come to the stadium early and sit in a comfortable relaxed environment whilst socialising with their fellow supporters and enjoying our hospitality. There will be a matchday snack menu in place for supporters to enjoy as they soak up the build-up to our match’s.

The club are in the process of completing an overhaul of our matchday hospitality with the commitment to improve the matchday experience at Huish Park. We have decorated and improved our executive boxes, to include their own bottle fridge and draught beverage to create an executive experience for all our customers to enjoy.

For fans who wish to sample the corporate experience we will be offering the opportunity to book a table in the 1895 Lounge to enjoy a three-course meal with table service. This will be a pre booked restaurant offering good quality food and service overlooking the pitch, allowing you to enjoy the build-up to our fixture.

We have an exciting project currently in motion behind our Thatcher’s Gold Terrace. For the start of the season, we shall have a new bar area in place, giving the home supporters the chance to have access to food and beverage refreshments prior to the match and at half time.

With these improved facilities across the venue, we feel we have catered better than before for all our fans and look forward to you all supporting each new and refreshed opportunity and hope it improves your time at the stadium.

New shirt/sponsors

We are excited to be able to work with Hummel to produce our training and playing kit.

The partnership allows us the opportunity to work with a passionate brand that are creating some great and exciting designs tailored to each of their partner clubs which is a fantastic opportunity for YTFC and our fans to have an exciting range in our club shop.

As you may have seen already, we launched our brand-new home strip this week, and we’ll be launching orders in the coming days whilst we await delivery of the full stock.

Alongside Hummel, we are also delighted to welcome Jurassic Fibre to the Yeovil Town family ahead of the National League season. Jurassic Fibre will be the clubs’ principal partner for the next three seasons, with their logo adorning the front of our shirt.

Speaking following the deal was signed, Steve Garrood, Chief Commercial Officer at Jurassic Fibre, said; “We are thrilled to become Yeovil Town FC’s main club partner and sponsor. At the heart of our approach is working with communities, and Yeovil Town is a strong community-based club. We are excited to be supporting and working with the club and the local community through this three-year partnership.

“Both Yeovil Town and Jurassic Fibre are intent on creating exciting futures, so it’s a perfect combination! On the field we will be backing the team to do great things. Off the field, as we roll out our ultrafast full fibre network, we’re committing significant investment to the Yeovil and wider Somerset area, with big plans to serve residents and the business community, with an outstanding full fibre broadband offering.”

Subscriptions for the programme will be available once we unveil the final product ahead of the new season, so keep your eyes peeled!

We are delighted to be able to welcome you back to Huish Park once again after a difficult 18 months apart. With the announcement that restrictions would be eased, season ticket sales have commenced in recent weeks, with an excellent response from the Huish Park faithful. As it stands, we have sold approximately 500 season tickets, and when compared to the same stage in previous seasons, we are selling tickets faster than ever!

Those who wish to renew their season ticket and guarantee their seat have until 4pm on the 6th of August to send their form to the club. For more information on season tickets, please click the link HERE, or visit the Huish Park club shop (Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm)

With pre-season well underway, Huish Park will host three friendlies, against Forest Green Rovers, AFC Bournemouth U23 and Southampton B, kids go free for these fixtures, so there’s no better time to welcome to family to Huish Park.

Crowdfunder packages

As it stands, the club has fulfilled all packages it has been able to whilst operating within COVID-19 restrictions. Packages such as a place in the team photo were unable to be fulfilled last season due to COVID restrictions not allowing this to take place. The football club plans to honour these packages when it is viable to do so.

When it comes to the sale of the club’s land, the club remains considering our options, with the football club and the wider communities best interest paramount in our decision making. As was reported last year, the football club struck a deal with South Somerset District Council, however this deal has not been completed but remains a viable option.

The club continue to talk to interested parties, including development partners, who would be willing to work closely with the club to help fulfil our vision and give this club an exciting future.

Ground’s work

Our groundsman Stuart Antell has been a busy man in the offseason, working on the pitch at Huish Park alongside the training ground at Alvington. This has involved reseeding the pitch at Huish Park, so it’s prepared for the National League season ahead. Commenting on its progress, Stuart said; “The stadium was renovated in the week directly after the last league game. We took the top 5mm off with a machine called a Koro, deep spiked to 7”, 90 tonnes of sand applied and followed off with 18 bags of seed drilled in 4 directions. We are 6 weeks into that now and I’m as happy as a groundsman can be with it.

“Alvington has been a little behind with the renovations for various reasons. Pitch 1 was renovated on Tuesday (13th July). This wasn’t quite as extensive as the stadium. We scarified in 2 directions with a Tractor-Mounted Scarifier, deep spiked to 5” and applied 13 bags of seed drilled in 2 directions. I am hoping this will be playable within 4 weeks so we can go ahead with the same renovation on pitch 2 on 10th August.

“I would like to thank S Merret Services for all their help on these jobs!”

Community Sports Trust

Throughout the last year, the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust has continued their outstanding work, despite the challenging circumstances. In recent weeks, our U12 side managed by Louis McCarten travelled to Hertfordshire to compete in the JPL National Shield final which they won!

The Trust has continued to actively engage with school children across the local area, running football themed education for young people.

Growing in numbers, Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust are looking for Level 1 & 2 Football Coaches to work within their Football Development Programme. Opportunities to work and coach for their Junior Premier League teams.
