The midfielder arrived on a free transfer from Dunfermline Athletic last summer and netted five times for the Glovers.

After making 37 appearances for Town last season, Hippolyte now moves to Glanford Park on a permanent basis.

All at Yeovil Town would like to thank Myles for his services during his time in Somerset and wish him all the best in the future.

MATCH REPORT | Stratford Town 3-0 Yeovil Town

After 174 days of waiting, Glovers fans finally caught a glimpse of their side as Yeovil fell to a 3-0 defeat against Stratford Town.

Three second half goals saw the Warwickshire based outfit claim victory in a game where fitness levels and avoiding injury were the main objective for Yeovil.

It was largely a game of ‘guess the trialist’ in the first half for Town fans as no less than four started for the Glovers.

Familiar faces amongst the 11 included Luke Wilkinson, Lawson D’Ath, Matt Worthington and Carl Dickinson.

There were also starts for new additions Adam Smith and Jack Clarke with academy product Gabby Rogers also starting on the right flank.

The first half was typical of many pre-season friendlies gone by, with players going through the motions and chances few and far between.

Yeovil’s brightest spark would be Rogers, who continually made himself a thorn in the Stratford side with intricate passing a deft touches to beat his man on a number of occasions.

However, it would be the hosts to fire closest in the first half as Lewis Wilson smashed an effort into the side netting after catching Dickinson out in his own half.

It would be Dickinson to have Yeovil’s best chance of the half, a well-hit free kick left Ty Belford in the Stratford goal scrambling, but he did enough to get a fingertip to it.

The second half saw seven changes to the Yeovil team, as Rhys Murphy, Courtney Duffus, Jimmy Smith, Lee Collins, Alex John, Josh Staunton and a trialist entered the fray.

The second half also saw a change in tempo, with both sides looking more ferocious in attack.

Yeovil would find the back of the net through Murphy as he poked home after Duffus’ effort was saved, however last season’s top scorer was adjudged to be offside and the goal was chalked off.

After a number of defensive adjustments, Yeovil were caught out with three quick fire goals by the hosts.

The first came through Will Grocott in the 67th minute who was able to find space at the back post for the easiest of finishes.

Stratford’s second came in the 72nd minute in very similar fashion as this time Joe Curtis escaped his marker and poked home.

The third and final goal of the afternoon came via Grocott again as he converted from the spot following a handball in the box.

Yeovil will now look ahead to next week’s friendly on Friday night against Frome Town.

FIXTURE NEWS | Dorchester friendly confirmed

PREVIEW | Stratford Town vs. Yeovil Town

After 174 days, we are able to see you again, as fans are welcomed back for our first pre-season friendly. Yeovil Town travel to Knights Lane to face Stratford, kicking off our pre-season campaign.

After a successful first week of pre-season training, alongside the additions of Jimmy Smith, Jack Clarke and Josh Staunton, the lads are back in action and raring to go.

Darren Sarll’s pre-match thoughts

The gaffer has made no secret of the hard miles his players have had to run this week as they return to training: “I’ve loved the first week back. I’ve got my measuring stick out and watched the players tremble as I mark out the distance they have to run.”

The rewards of a tough week of running are already shining through, with Sarll insisting: ‘Fitness isn’t a problem. A few of our players are more than ready to play a full 90 minutes.”

Darren Sarll’s full pre-match press conference can be viewed on the Yeovil Town F.C. YouTube channel.

Squad news

YTFC will be without versatile midfielders Charlie Lee & Albi Skendi, who both are suffering from slight muscle injuries.”

On the injuires, the gaffer said: “Albi is struggling with his calf, and Charlie has a slight problem with his hip. We’re not ready to risk it yet, so those two will be missing out this weekend.”

Skendi, a former Stratford Town player, will no doubt be disappointed that he is unable to make a comeback appearance at Knights Lane.

Yeovil Town fans will be pleased to see the potential return of Lawson D’Ath who just missed out on our play-off clash with Barnet.

Last time we met

We last met Stratford Town last Summer when they visited Huish Park for Darren Sarll’s first friendly at the helm. Thanks to a double from Rhys Murphy, Town ran out the 2-0 victors.

Tickets

Tickets for the friendly fixture are available from HERE.  Tickets are priced at £10.00 and must be collected from the reception at Stratford Town until 12:30pm and then from the turnstiles. All contact details will be shared with Stratford Town in line with ‘Track & Trace’ protocols.

With thanks to Elliot Warner who helped put together this preview whilst on work experience with the club on Thursday afternoon.

CLUB NEWS | Commemorative painting to be auctioned

In celebration of our 125th anniversary, Yeovil Town will be auctioning a commemorative painting of Huish Park.

Capturing our home under the lights on a dusky evening, this unique piece of Yeovil Town memorabilia is not to be missed!

Donated by club director Glenn Collis, the painting is signed at the back by all members of the first team squad.

To place your bid for this one of a kind item, please email info@ytfc.net with your bid amount and contact details.

TRANSFER | Jimmy Smith returns to Yeovil Town

Yeovil Town are delighted to confirm the permanent signing of Jimmy Smith.

After an extremely successful loan spell which saw the attacking midfielder score five goals in 20 appearances, Jimmy now returns to Huish Park on a one-year deal.

A stand-out performer for the Glovers last season, Jimmy built a great relationship with the Huish Park faithful due to his performances in Green and White. Many Yeovil fans had been hopeful the midfielder would return, which the club are now delighted to confirm.

2169576.jpg

After being released by Crawley Town at the end of the 2018/19 season, Jimmy is now free to extend his spell in Somerset on a permanent basis.

Speaking to YTTV after signing, Jimmy said: “It feels great to be back. I enjoyed my time here last year on loan, it’s great to be back here permanently.

“It’s far from my home, but I’m willing to make that sacrifice, I believe in what’s going on here and what the manager’s doing, I want to buy into that.

“The fan base here is unbelievable, so many of them travel for away games, and it’s some distance as well. We’ve had 1,000 at away games and more fans than the home support so it’s fantastic!”

Yeovil Town are delighted to confirm the loan signing of Jack Clarke from Aston Villa.

A dynamic midfielder by trade, Clarke has featured in all the positions across the middle of the park in recent seasons, but describes himself as a ‘box-to-box midfielder’.

Speaking to YTTV after signing, Clarke said “I’m buzzing to be here, I can’t wait to get started. I got the call last week from Darren (Sarll), he was really positive with me about the project that’s happening here, hopefully getting this club into the league.

“I’ve been at Aston Villa since I was eight, I’m trying to get some first team minutes and experience round the dressing room. I’ve met all the lads and they seem really positive, so I just can’t wait!”

Everybody at Yeovil Town wishes Jack all the best during his loan spell at Huish Park.

CLUB UPDATE | The latest developments at Huish Park

As it was so well received previously by the Green and White Army, the club has decided to issue another general update on all things off the field at Huish Park. The latest answers to fan’s FAQs are:

Summary of current club operations

It remains the case that the vast majority of staff are on furlough of one type or another. Some have been on furlough completely for several months, others are now on part time furlough as the system allows, but in many cases, this is only one day a week. This means club office operations are still much more limited than normal and we do not see that situation changing for a number of weeks.

Our media volunteer and elements of our reduced size Academy continue are operating full time. Also, Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust continues to do great work in engaging with our community.

The club has been in regular communications with the Chairman of the Supporters Alliance over the last few months and hope to have a meeting with the full Alliance Committee in mid-September.

All senior playing staff are in their closed season but will return to preseason training next week. Our Academy players are now also back in training.

Crowdfunder

The club is immensely grateful for the fantastic support the fans gave to the Crowdfunder.

As previously mentioned, the club can confirm it has now received the Crowdfunder monies and has moved on to step two of the process which is contacting everyone who bought packages via the Crowdfunder to both thank them and explain how matters will move forward with their particular package. This process has now been completed.

The 10% contribution to the Yeovil Hospital Charity will be made at the first home league game of the 2020/21 season.

Other Fundraising activities

One of the most impressive parts of the support fans have given the club over the last few months in addition to the Crowdfunder is the fans who have helped out in other ways, such as the virtual pint, arranging their own fundraising activities, declining refunds on ticket or season tickets and even in some cases simply writing into the club with donation cheques. The club is determined that everyone who helped out in these ways (or via the Crowdfunder) should be thanked and is currently looking at ways this can be done given the numbers of people involved (over 400 we estimate) and the current restrictions on social gathering.

New Season Start Date

The National League anticipates the League programme will start on 3 October and will end on 29 May 2021 (with play offs in early June).

As mentioned previously capacity for league games at Huish Park early in the season will be significantly reduced due to government restrictions and a new spectators code of conduct will be produced to help us provide supporters with basic information they will need in order to return to Huish Park and a maximise capacity.

Via a proactive partnership with our fans, YTFC are committed to hosting games as safely as possible.

Ticketing & Season Tickets

The recent survey of season ticket holders was very well supported – over 600 responses were received so thank you for your support. Those answers have enabled us to shape our plans for hosting games with reduced capacities at the beginning of next season.

The reshaping has meant a delay in putting season tickets on sale, but they will be available from early September (watch out for a fuller story on this matter next week).

Following a request from the Supporters Alliance the club is setting up arrangement with a finance partner so fans can spread the payments for season ticket if they wish (subject to terms and conditions).

General enquiries regarding tickets can be made via ticketoffice@ytfc.net

Club Shop

The stock in the club shop has been reduced to an absolute minimum ahead of a major overhaul for the start of the 2020/21 season. Fans next season can expect to see an improved range of stock as well a long overdue new club shop website.

For these reasons the club website is offline, and the shop remains closed to visitors, but the club does have temporary measures in place so fans can order any remaining items. More information on this is available HERE.

Pre-season games at Huish Park

At this time, we understand any home friendly would have to be behind closed doors. It is likely that there will be only one home friendly at the end of September.

Special Playoff Kit

This has now sold out.

Playoff Banners

Some of the fan banners the club displayed at the recent playoff game still remain to be collected. These can be collected from the club office (10am to 4pm, Monday to Fridays).

Next Season’s new kit

The new 125th Anniversary Kit is being produced currently and is anticipated to be made available for pre-sale at the end of August.

Player Update

The list of players currently contracted with the club for next season is: Carl Dickinson, Lee Collins, Lawson D’Ath, Courtney Duffus, Myles Hippolyte, Alex John, Charlie Lee, Rhys Murphy, Gabby Rogers, Adam Smith (loan), Albi Skendi, Josh Staunton, Luke Wilkinson and Matthew Worthington.

Face In The Crowd

Thank-you for your support of our ‘Face In The Crowd’ campaign for our play off fixture against Barnet, in purchasing your cut out you have supported your club and we are incredibly grateful.

Fans who purchased cut outs now have two options. If you would like to collect your cardboard cut-out, please contact Mark Robinson on mrobinson@ytfc.net to arrange this. Alternatively if fans choose to leave their cut out at Huish Park we will redeploy in the main stand for the new season and leave them in place until all capacity restrictions have been lifted (at which point fans will be able to collect them using the same contact point).

Club Lottery

The club lottery continues as normal, with the exception of door to door collections which are still suspended. For more information please see https://www.ytfc.net/commercial/lottery/

Private Members Draw

Unfortunately, the normal match day draws have not been possible, so additional draws will take place when games return until the correct number of draws is reached.

Pitch Maintenance

Closed season pitch maintenance started on 24 July and will finish later this month.

Prizes the Club Has Promised to donate to support fan fundraising activities

Over the last few months, the club agreed to support individual fans fund raising activities with prizes, in some case season tickets for the 2020/21 season for example. Organisers of these competitions are asked to email ticketoffice@ytfc.net to confirm the contact details of the winners. Once these are received the winners will be contacted by the club.

And finally…

Thank you once again for your outstanding support, fundraising and patience.

2163635.jpg

Speaking to YTTV, the new number one couldn’t wait to be back: “I’m buzzing to get everything sorted and get back into the swing of things.

“We had a little taste of it about a month ago, I just can’t wait to be back in now.”

Smith will know he has the full confidence of Darren Sarll, who was delighted to secure his signature for the season: “Adam is first and foremost a really brilliant character.

“We have a great faith that we can drag that little bit extra out of him, now is a really good time for that as he’s had some indifferent experiences.

Everybody at Yeovil Town wishes Adam all the best during his time at Huish Park.

CLUB NEWS | Tom Bradbury departs Huish Park

Yeovil Town can confirm that Tom Bradbury has left the club following the mutual termination of his contract.

Everybody at Yeovil Town would like to wish Tom all the best in the future.

TRANSFER | Summer recruitment begins as Josh Staunton is signed

Yeovil Town are delighted to complete the signing of defender Josh Staunton.

Signing on a free transfer from fellow National League side Halifax Town, Staunton becomes Darren Sarll’s first addition of the 2020/21 season as preparations begin to ramp up.

Starting his career within the youth ranks at Gillingham, the top tier of non-league football is where Staunton has made his name, playing for both Dagenham and Redbridge and Woking before joining Halifax in 2018.

Last season, Staunton was an ever-present for Halifax, taking part in every game for Pete Wild’s Shaymen.

2169754.jpg

Now moving to Somerset, the 24-year old is raring to go for the season ahead: “I’m really excited. It’s been a long time without real football, getting back in amongst a dressing room and getting ready for the season, it can’t come soon enough!

“It will be really nice to have fans back in the stadiums too, I know playing here, it was a good atmosphere, I look forward to it being on my side rather than against me!”

CLUB UPDATE | Answering your FAQs

During the last few months, the Green and White army have been consistently brilliant, both in terms of fundraising for the club and general backing for YTFC.

We acknowledge that due to the impact of Covid-19 club operations have not functioned as normal since March, so we also thank all our fans both for their patience and understanding.

To answer some fans FAQs we thought it would be helpful to issue this general update as follows:

Summary of current club operations

The vast majority of staff are on furlough of one type or another. Some have been on furlough completely for several months, others are now on part time furlough as the system allows, but in many cases, this is only one day a week. This means club office operations are still much more limited than normal and we do not see that situation changing for a number of weeks.

Our media volunteer and some elements of our reduced size Academy continue to operate full time. Also, Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust continues to do great work in engaging with our community.

All playing staff are in their closed season.

Crowdfunder

The club is immensely grateful for the fantastic support the fans gave to the Crowdfunder.

The club can confirm it has now received the Crowdfunder monies, so we can move on to step two of the process which is contacting everyone who bought packages via the Crowdfunder to both thank them and explain how matters will move forward with their particular package. This process will start on Monday but due to the amount of people involved and the limited number of club staff available we do not expect phase two to be completed until 14 August

Ticketing & Season Tickets

The club is very grateful for fans who have contacted the club already to donate either unused match tickets or the unused proportion of 2019/20 season tickets. Although the club has been carrying out the process of thanking fans for doing this due to the significant number of people involved (well over 300 fans have contacted the club directly on this matter) we have not been able to reply to them all yet, so if you have not heard from us yet, please do not think the club is ignoring you as we are very grateful. All season ticket holders will however receive a direct update from the club via email next week.

This week the club has been advised that it is likely that the 2020/21 season will likely start on the basis of a significantly reduced capacity basis with home fans only being able to attend games subject to them following strict social distancing requirements. The total reduced capacity of the ground will be dependant on the number of family groups likely to attend so next week we will be surveying all season ticket holders to find out their views on reduced capacity options. This will allow us to assess likely demand from family groups and the degree to which season ticket holders can be flexible (for instance with social distancing rules in place some season ticket holders may not be able to be allocated their ‘normal’ seat next season).

From those responses we will formulate a revised 2020/21 season ticket package which we anticipate will go on sale in the week commencing 17 August.

For these reasons the club website is offline and the shop remains closed to visitors, but the club does have temporary measures in place so fans can order any remaining items, more information is available HERE

Pre-season games at Huish Park

At this time we understand these would have to be behind closed doors.

Special Playoff Kit

We apologise for the delay on putting these on sale, however a limited run of the special playoff shirts will go on sale next week (more details will follow on ytfc.net) for a maximum three week period only.

There will also be an opportunity to own six of the shirts actually worn by the squad on the day of the match with Barnet.

Next Season’s new kit

The new 125th Anniversary Kit is being produced currently and is anticipated to be made available for pre-sale at the end of August.

Player Update

Please see our latest update on this matter via this story.

For more information please see HERE.

Private Members Draw

Unfortunately, the normal match day draws have not been possible, so additional draws will take place when games return until the correct number of draws is reached.

Pitch Maintenance

Closed season pitch maintenance started on 24 July and we anticipate that no games will possible at Huish Park until late August at the earliest.

Prizes to Club Has Promised to donate to support fan fundraising activities

Over the last few months, the club agreed to support individual fans fund raising activities with prizes, in some case season tickets for the 2020/21 season for example. Organisers of these competitions are asked to email ticketoffice@ytfc.net to confirm the contact details of the winners. Once these are received the winners will be contacted by the club.

And finally…

Thank you once again, via your support, fundraising and patience – Glovers fans have again shown they are outstanding.
