4th August 2018

Preparing for a fourth successive season in Sky Bet League Two manager Darren Way has made 10 summer signings to add to the core of his squad remaining from 2017/18.

Experience has been added in the form of defenders Carl Dickinson and Gary Warren as well as attacker Yoann Arquinn, with the exciting duo of Sessi D’Almeida, Korrey Henry and Wes McDonald completing the permanent arrivals.

Heading to Somerset on loan Diallang Jaiyesimi, Nathan Baxter, Recee Cole and Alex Pattison all round off the new recruits.

Enjoying a solid pre-season the Glovers will be looking to get off to a good start in the league against a side who suffered relegation from League One in 2017/18.

The Skakers return to the fourth tier for the first time in four years and will be looking to bounce back straight away.

Despite suffering relegation, Ryan Lowe’s squad still boasts a plethora of household names including Jermaine Beckford, Nicky Adams, Stephen Dawson, Chris Dagnall and Neil Danns.

Head-to-head
The two clubs meet for the first since April 2013 when Town suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat at Gigg Lane.

James Hayter and Kevin Dawson were on target on that day as the Glovers eventually won promotion to the Championship via the play-offs a month later.

Overall, Bury have won seven of the 10 competitive encounters since 1949 with the Green & Whites yet to record a victory in Greater Manchester.

Officials
Dean Whitestone will be the man in the middle for the season opener.

Last taking charge of a Town match in November last year, Mr. Whitestone sent off loanee Sid Nelson in the 1-1 draw with Notts County at Huish Park.

On Saturday, he’ll be assisted by Matthew Parry and Paul Newhouse with Mark Cunliffe acting as fourth official.
