Named in the starting lineup the 17-year-old completed 90 minutes for Darren Way’s side and put in an impressive performance.

Having featured in pre-season the left-back has continued to train with the first-team and was named on the bench for the Checkatrade Trophy group stage match against Exeter City back in September.

An unused substitute on that occasion, Ojo was handed his senior debut against the Hammers having impressed Town’s boss in a behind closed doors friendly against Bristol City last week.

Ojo becomes the second Academy product to make his first-team debut this season, following in the footsteps of Gabby Rogers who’s been part of every matchday squad to date and became the first player born this millennium to represent the green and whites.

Commenting on the youngster’s debut, Way told iFollow Glovers: “Daniel didn’t look out of place at all and I knew that would be the case.

“He was very good at Bristol City and there must have been £25 million worth of talent on the pitch that day so I knew I could trust him and it was really good for the rest of the players who I thought protected him well.

“It’s been a working progress with the Academy and we’ve made one or two good changes for the football club. Dan’s been training with us on a regular basis and has had to mark Jordan Green from pre-season so he made it look easy.

“Then we had Gabby Rogers who’s 17 years of age (come on) so the future is bright as far as our Academy players are concerned who add to our other young players, so it looks good.”
