Players join reading initiative
Yeovil Town players Lee Peltier and Danny Schofield joined year 8 students at Buckler's Mead Community School as part of a new nationwide initiative linking football with literacy this week.
They talked and read with the students as part of their Study Centre Reading lesson.

Students were selected based on their need to improve reading skills and their enjoyment of sport.
The aim of the project is to increase motivation and focus of Y8 reluctant readers.
As a result of the project previously reluctant readers have become far more enthusiastic and engaged in their lessons.
The project was started by Premier League clubs with top flight players like Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and David James all heavily involved in the launch.

After the reading lesson the students took part in a coaching session with the Yeovil Town players.
Students very much enjoyed meeting professional football players, as well as taking the opportunity to ask them questions about their own careers and interests.
This project is part of a National drive to link reading with football http://news.bbc..co.uk/1/hi/education/4401549.stm.
Buckler's Mead hopes that there will be many more collaborations with Yeovil Town Football Club to encourage pupils to support their local team and make more links between professional athletes and learning.
