Club business performance highlighted

Posted on: Tue 31 Mar 2009

Yeovil Town Football Club has been highlighted as one of only 21 football clubs in the country for it's competant business management, by a review from Plimsoll, The Business Performance People.

The recently released report stated that Yeovil Town has been rated as "Strong" reflecting their outstanding recent performance.

It also confirmed that 115 other companies in the review are in financial danger and will struggle to survive, and competitive pressure is now so intense that a third of all companies are making a loss.

The report also suggested that the club are well positioned to weather a downturn. Highlighted were that the club's sales growth and profit margins are better than the industry's largest player.

It also stated that if the club continued on it's present course it will overtake 16 of it's competitors in the next 12 months.

Perhaps the most alarming thing for football was the fact that 115 companies were rated as being in danger.

Plimsoll had already rated 90% of companies now in receivership as being in the "danger" category some 2 years prior to their demise.

With football already close to financial meltdown it is indeed gratifying to find Yeovil Town in such a strong catergory.

Commenting on the report Chairman John Fry stated:
"It is indeed great news to receive such a high rating in this widely respected review.

"At Yeovil Town everything we do is aimed at success, but built on financial realism and responsibility.

"We intend to continue in that vein to secure the future of this great Football Club."
