YEOVIL Town manager Terry Skiverton is hoping that the next time his side meet Charlton Athletic the weather will be a little drier.
Saturday's horrendous weather conditions meant that the football on the pitch at Huish Park became a little farcical during the 1-1 draw. Torrential rain and a swirling wind made football very difficult.
The second-half saw Yeovil very much "backs to the wall" as Charlton, despite having been reduced to ten men, swept forward with the wind in their advantage.
And it meant some heroic defending from Yeovil with keeper Alex McCarthy making some cracking saves and defenders, such as Craig Alcock, having to make some brave blocks and challenges.
Skiverton, speaking to the BBC, said: "Craig threw himself in front of countless things. I think that was very important today.
"We had to change our shape because because Charlton were getting quite a lot of joy.
"We ended up bringing in Terrell Forbes and sitting him in front in midfield and we've never done that before.
"That worked quite well, but we had to sacrifice quite a lot going forward because we couldn't get the ball."
Skiverton added: "Charlton are a big strong side and they've got some very good players that have played at the highest level, and I felt that we dealt with them quite well today.
"So I'm very pleased with our performance and on another day, when the conditions are not as windy and rainy, I would like to play Charlton again."
Yeovil visit Charlton Athletic on February 20 in the Coca-Cola League One. Fingers-crossed for drier weather that day!
