Former Yeovil Town utility player Andy Lindegaard has moved quickly to correct fallacious internet reports from earlier this week suggesting he had "given up professional football".
Lindegaard, affectionately known as "Lindy" in his two spells at the club over a decade, made almost 200 appearances for the Glovers scoring a dozen goals. He was a popular player among the supporters as he came through the youth system and had watched the team from the terraces.
Incorrect media reports had stated that Lindy had given up football but the Taunton-born player, speaking exclusively to www.ytfc.net this afternoon scotched the rumours vehemently.
"I certainly haven't retired" he confirmed. "In recent months, I have been diagnosed with a condition called Familial Hypercholesterolemia which is basically a genetic disorder. Patients end up with high cholesterol levels and one area affected is the achilles tendon."
Andy's recent diagnosis came after a period of uncertainty and the future may well see the 29-year-old surgery to correct both achilles tendons. However he is far from retired and is looking forward to resuming his career as soon as possible after surgery.
"I've gone into business with my sister-in-law Charlotte Dymond to provide a freelance fitness consutancy to football clubs. Charlotte completed her degree recently and I've joined up with her to form Dymond Strength - I'm excited about the new challenge but my football career is far from over!"
