EX-YEOVIL STAR DEBUTS AT WORLD CUP

Posted on: Tue 15 Jun 2010
Former Yeovil Town loan striker Rory Fallon made his World Cup Finals debut this afternoon for New Zealand against Slovakia.

Fallon, 28, will visit Huish Park next season as part of the Plymouth Argyle relegated from the Championship last season but today his focus was well and truly on Rustenberg as his native club drew 1-1 with their Slovak rivals.

The New Zealander spent a month on loan at Huish Park in season 2004-05 scoring once in six games. He grabbed the third goal and made the fourth in a 4-3 victory over Scunthorpe United.

Fallon is one of eleven players that played in the Football League last season who are now in South Africa for the World Cup. Interestingly enough, though all of them played in the Championship in 2009/10, six of them are unlikely to next season with five winning promotion for West Brom and Newcastle while of course Fallon drops to League One.
