Yeovil Town Ladies team are in seventh heaven today as they clinched the South West Combination League title this morning with a 7-0 win at Oxford City.
Record-breaking top scorer Jemma Tewksbury helped herself to four more goals taking her league tally to 39 and an incredible 52 in all competitions. Further goals from Stacey Pearson, Terri Trowbridge and Lindsey Roe ensured the promotion to the FA Premier League Southern Division.
The match kicked off thirty minutes late after the late arrival of the referee and home side and the first half was dominated by the home side who kept the visitors champagne on ice temporarily.
But after the half time interval, the goals started to arrive in clumps with Pearson giving the Glovers the lead followed by Tewksbury's first goal. Two more followed shortly after and the title was safely on its way back to Somerset.
A full match report will appear on the ladies website
here tomorrow but from everyone at Huish Park, great credit, praise and many congratulations are sent to the manager, staff and ladies on a remarkable achievement.
Well done to the ladies!
