Yeovil Town's first floor security man Nick Burton is nursing aching limbs but a proud heart tonight after he completed the Bath Half Marathon earlier today.
The 39-year-old postman from Yeovil, who has followed the Glovers for nearly thirty years, has been training regularly since his entry was confirmed in the race. The poor weather this winter hasn't affected his training as the enterprising fan bought a treadmill so that he could continue training indoors.
His time today was a creditable 1 hour 50 minutes in the race ran by more than 11,000 people and watched by tens of thousands of others along Bath's Georgian streets.
The race was started by Bath's Olympic hero Amy Williams who later promised that she would run the race herself in a future year.
Of course there is a serious side to the run - almost every athlete competing will have raced for charity. Nick was no different and his chosen recipient was CoppaFeel, a breast cancer charity that aims to hit home the importance of breast examination in younger women.
Nick was introduced to the good cause by a friend of his sister and said "You can still sponsor me by visiting my site at www.justgiving.com/NickBurton1970
Nick's fundraising recently topped the £500 mark and is still climbing but it's not too late to support him (and his sore feet) by sponsoring him through the above link.
Many congratulations to Nick on his achievement. Well done!!
