ANDREJS IS AN INSTANT HIT

Posted on: Wed 02 Dec 2009
Former Yeovil Town midfielder Andrejs Stolcers has endeared himself immediately to the Bath City fans by scoring on his debut.

The likeable Latvian came off the bench and grabbed the fourth goal and created the fifth in Bath City's astonishing 5-0 win over third-placed Woking in the Blue Square South last night.

Contrary to reports elsewhere, Andrejs has signed non-contract forms with the Twerton Park outfit while he considers his longer term future.

He joined Yeovil in September 2004 and was an integral part of the team's League One title-winning campaign, playing 43 times and scoring seven goals.

He is Yeovil's most capped player with 81 appearances for his native Latvia where he played under his future club manager Gary Johnson.

Andrejs was typically modest about his success last night. Speaking exclusively to ytfc.net, he revealed. "It was the silliest goal of my career. I raced in to charge down the goalkeepers clearance and his kick hit me and rebounded back towards the goal, trickling over the line."

His assist was via a late free kick from which Bath scored their fifth and final goal in a scoreline barely believable, if only for the fact that  the Cards had only conceded twelve goals in eighteen matches before last night.

He will be hoping to continue his good run when his new side take on table-toppers Newport County at home this coming Saturday.

Everyone at Huish Park wishes Andrejs every success in his new career.
