THE TESTIMONIAL MATCH REPORT

Huish Park this afternoon witnessed an eight-goal feast in the Terry Skiverton testimonial match in front of just over 3,000 spectators.
The two sides containing the 2002/03 Conference winning side and the specially selected managers eleven produced an entertaining match in warm conditions and served up a fitting tribute to Yeovil's manager to celebrate his decade at the club.
There was even an emotional return to playing action for injured midfielder Darren Way who came on for the final minute of the tribute match to an equal mix of cheers and tears.

Terry himself was delighted with the turnout. ""Ten years ago when I came here, I could never have dreamt that it would come to this. I just can't believe I'm here, I'm so very proud of being at this football club".
Opposing former Yeovil bosses Gary Johnson and Colin Lippiatt paid their tributes to Skiverton at the final whistle saying that today was fully deserved and that he was one of those diamond signings that all managers want.

The game itself was played at a pedestrian pace initially. Kevin Gall went close early on with a shot cleared off the line by Michael Duberry and Marc Bircham also went close. On nine minutes, an audacious Warren Patmore lob was clutched by Steve Collis only for the keeper to collide with the post and drop the ball; fortunately no-one was near enough to take advantage.

Fourteen minutes in and Yeovil goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts brought Nick Crittenden down in full flow and escaped with a finger-wagging from the ref. On seventeen minutes, the opening goal for the Select XI came from Adrian Foster following a fine right-wing run and cross from Scott Guyett.
A plethora of substitutions broke the game up a little with only a couple of attempts from Gavin Williams to excite the crowd. Then with seven minutes left to the break, Kirk Jackson poked home to equalise from eight yards out.

Manager Gary Johnson's half time words of wisdom worked wonders as within sixty seconds Andy Lindegaard had put his side 2-1 up.
Marc Bircham came back on in goal for Ben Roberts and Skiverton came off for a breather before Kevin Gall made the score 3-1 to the Conference Champions, knocking home from a corner.
Manager Johnson brought himself on to a huge cheer with a quarter of an hour left but within eight minutes his side had leaked three goals. First Dave Lee lobbed change keeper Paul Terry from fully thirty-five yards before Foster grabbed his second.
Warren Patmore nodded home from a pinpoint Nathan Jones cross to make the score 4-3. Skiverton came back on and almost immediately saw his free-kick cleared off the line by Jones before the late drama.
Three minutes were left on the clock when referee Adam Bromley given a penalty to the Conference winners. Skiverton blazed his first effort over but Bircham had moved off his line so a retake was awarded. This time, Johnson senior snatched the ball from his old captain before then side-footing the spot-kick to Skiverton to lash home.

There was still time for the most emotional part of the afternoon; the re-appearance after seven months of Darren Way after his accident, replacing his club manager. He got his first touch of the ball before referee Bromley whistled for full time.
It was a fitting end to the perfect testimonial and sent the 3,002 spectators home happy.
