The lowest gate at Huish Park since the Glovers reached the football league witnessed a quality performance from a Yeovil side that dominated Tranmere from the opening whistle.
Man of the match Terry Skiverton's spectacular strike in the first half was enough to inflict defeat on Ronnie Moore's side.

Russell Slade was ecstatic with his sides performance. "Absolutely awesome result. The effort and commitment to the cause was there. We should have won by more, but it was an important three points." Said Slade.
The first chance fell to Tranmere five minutes in when the unmarked Gareth Edds met Danny Holmes' dangerous cross.

Edds header went inches wide of Wagenaar's post to the relief of the Glovers fans.
Yeovil enjoyed a good spell of possession and had a great chance in the 19th minute through Gifton Noel-Williams.

Danny Schofield's shot, after a delightful forward run, was deflected into the path of Noel-Williams who blazed the ball over Danny Coyne's bar.

Yeovil broke the deadlock in remarkable fashion in the 22nd minute.

Godwin Antwi was penalised for a foul on Gavin Tomlin outside the box. From the resulting free kick, Schofield laid the ball off to Skiverton who curled a right-footed shot into the top corner past the helpless Coyne.

Yeovil could've added a second moments later, when Gary Roberts tried a speculative effort that Coyne could only parry into the path of Aidan Downes.
Downes passed to Tomlin who found the net; unfortunately it was only the side of it.

Wagenaar pulled of a good save from Andy Taylor after the Tranmere fullback found himself with enough time to pull of a strong drive at goal.
Another break from Yeovil saw Downes deliver a perfect cross for the unmarked Tomlin who should have scored. His header was a soft one for Coyne to hold though.

A stellar first half performance from the Glovers saw them threaten Tranmere again, this time it was Paul Warne's cross that found Downes who saw his volley cannon off the woodwork.

Warne, who was not playing like a man in his mid-thirties, had the Glovers next chance in the 45th minute with a fine low shot that Coyne managed to hold on to.
Half Time: Yeovil Town 1 Tranmere Rovers 0
As the sides came back from half time, the Yeovil fans were hoping their side could repeat their first half performance in the second.

Tomlin was the first to get a chance when he rifled a shot in hard that stung the gloves of Coyne.
Yeovil were creating chance after chance and Skiverton was close to getting a second goal with a clever flick on header that sailed wide.

Yeovil were caught napping in the 68th minute as Tranmere's Chris Greenacre took on Nathan Smith to get a shot on goal that Wagenaar was equal to.
Yeovil pushed on to get a second goal and Paul Warne could have grabbed it had he made sweeter contact with the ball on two occasions.

The Glovers held on to their lead, and had numerous chances to add another goal but just couldn't make that decisive move.

Yeovil suffered a late barrage of attacks in stoppage time as Tranmere had two corners that caused problems for the defence, but they held on to clinch a fantastic win.

"We were well worth the win today, fans may have expected us to be nervy after Stockport but we were confident and positive." Added Slade.
