Yeovil Town last night went through to the fourth round of the Somerset Premier Cup after a comfortable 3-0 win over a spirited Weston Super Mare side at Huish Park.

Young striker Darryl Knights scored two goals, with trialist Tom Lyons grabbing the other in a game that saw a good and impressive performance from the Glovers, and plenty of entertainment for the club.

Talking about the game this afternoon Stuart Housley gave his view of the match:

"It was a pleasing performance and result all round last night," he said.

"A team consisting of trialists, mainly from Crystal Palace, as well as fringe players such as Anthony Barry, Craig Alcock and Darryl Knights all took to the field.

"The team also consisted of Mark Lynch returning from long term injury, and Andy Lindegaard also coming back to action following his groin injury.

"So it was a mixture of youth and experience, and Yeovil played some great football with some good one touch passing, with Darryl Knights catching the eye with his speed and quality runs,

"And it was he who opened the scoring in the very first minute, when after a good run from the right winger Jerahl Hughes, the ball was crossed in for young Knights to score with a low shot from just inside the box.

"Weston Super Mare created a couple of chances, and the Yeovil 'keeper Darren Behcet made a number of good saves.

"It continued to be an open game for the first twenty minutes, and then Yeovil took control, with Anthony Barry spreading the ball around well.

"The second goal came in the 56th minute when following some good play again from Darryl Knights, he set up Tom Lyons who finished with a left foot shot into the net.

"Weston Super Mare tried hard and made it difficult for Yeovil, holding some decent possession and getting into some good positions, but the home defence always looked strong.

"The Glovers sealed the game on 58 minutes, when they scored the third goal to kill the game off.

"It came though a great 40 metre pass from Anthony Barry, with the ball coming to Darryl Knights who used his pace again to fool the 'keeper, knocking the ball into the back of the net for a very well taken goal.

"That as good as put Yeovil Town in the semi finals, and it was well deserved.

"It was a good all round performance.

"Darren Behcet in goal played very well and made some good saves, Darryl Knights again caught the eye and I would say that he was man of the match, with him scoring two goals and setting the other up.

"Craig Alcock was impressive at the back, was very strong, and is progressing very well.

"I also thought that Anthony Barry played well and spread the ball around with some good precise passing all over the pitch.

"It was good to see Mark Lynch playing again after his lay-off, and played very well.

"He only played in the first half, which was pre-planned by club Physio Jim Joyce.

"When you consider how long he has been out, he did very well, and I think that everyone is really pleased with his progress.

"Andy Lindegaard did well too, and got stronger as they game progressed.

"So it was an excellent win against a good looking Weston Super Mare side who showed a lot of spirit and made us work really hard for the win.
