Yeovil Town grabbed a point from ten man Charlton Athletic at a wet and windy Huish Park this afternoon.

Jonathan Obika had put the Glovers ahead after Sam Sodje had received a straight red card for hauling down Ryan Mason in full flight. However Sodje's younger brother earned his side a share of the spoils with a spectacular equaliser in the second half.

The first fifteen minutes saw both sides struggle to adapt to what was awful conditions. Constant rain and driving wind made for passes impossible to control and fluffed clearances.

Charlton keeper Carl Ikeme was labouring to get his kicks to reach the halfway line as the Glovers looked to make the wind count in their favour.

Ryan Mason had Yeovil's first effort when he turned and fired a fierce shot into the side netting. Within three minutes, the Addicks had their first attempt, a shot that went high and wide from Grant Basey.

Charlton looked to get back into the game but found keeper Alex McCarthy equal to everything they threw into the area.

On twenty eight minutes, deja vu struck. As last week, a Spurs loanee was sent clear only to be brought down and the defender given a straight red.

This time it was Mason who broke through and Sam Sodje scythed him down. As last man, referee Hooper had no option but to dismiss the player.

Visiting manager Phil Parkinson sent on Miguel Angel Llera and sacrificed striker Dave Mooney straight afterwards.

Yeovil looked to press forward and forced a corner that Scott Murray floated onto the roof of the net.

Therry Racon had a half chance for Charlton but saw his half volley flash well wide.

Just as half time approached came the breakthrough. An Ikeme goal kick was blown back towards his own goal, the ball was slipped through to Jonathan Obika who steadied himself before sliding it past Ikeme.

Yeovil didn't want half time to come and an enterprising move from a McCarthy goalkick involving Stefan Stam and Murray almost created a second but the ball was cleared for a corner.

There was an early warning two minutes in when Llera's free kick was parried by McCarthy to Sodje who fired home only to be denied by the linesman's flag.

The second half began in worsening conditions and to be frank, the man advantage was more than cancelled out by the wind. McCarthy, always reliably accurate and long with his place kicks, was finding it difficult initially to cope.

Veteran defender Christian Dailly earned himself a yellow for pulling back Obika but the chance came to nothing.

Within four minutes, the Addicks were level. A long ball from defence was controlled by Akpo Sodje who cut inside and hit a beauty into the top right hand corner past a despairing McCarthy.

The Nigerian striker almost added a second five minutes on but saw his rising shot brilliantly saved by McCarthy.

The pitch was offering no option for Yeovil to continue their fine passing game yet any thought of hitting it high and long made success improbable too. Manager Terry Skiverton swapped Dean Bowditch for Andy Welsh to give another option up front.

Sodje saw another effort tipped over the bar by the on-loan Reading keeper and Lloyd Sam pulled his shot wide as he broke through on goal.

Skiverton took off the other winger Murray replacing him with Terrell Forbes.

Yeovil were by now defending with their lives and a desperate last-ditch block from Craig Alcock prevented an almost certain goal with a quarter of an hour left.

Twice more McCarthy was called into action to deal with wickedly inswinging crosses as the Glovers remained on the back foot while trying to break out in between. One such break offered a chance to Jean-Paul Kalala whose shot from thirty yards flew wide of the goal.

With five minutes left, Yeovil got their final opportunity when keeper Ikeme failed to prevent the ball going for a corner. Mason floated the ball in and Shaun MacDonald glanced his header wide.

The visitors pressed for the winner as unbelievably conditions got worse and forced three late corners but all the pressure came to nothing as both sides came away with a point.
